About the Nomination Process

The nomination process is open to all who wish to nominate candidates, with the exception that self-nominations are not accepted. The prize can be awarded to a single person or shared for closely related fundamental contributions. Deceased persons cannot be nominated. Nominations are confidential and nominees should not know who nominated them.

All information, both written and verbal related to the identification and selection of the prize winners are held in the strictest confidence and not made available to the public for 50 years.

A precise set of instructions is available from the Norwegian Academy that stipulates the information and format by which nominations must be submitted.

Candidates for each of the Kavli Prizes are reviewed by the Prize Committees constituted of leading international scientists.
