The Digital Media Manager reports to the COO and helps manage the foundation’s brand and engagement with various audiences through a suite of digital channels as well as provides oversight and production of creative materials and collateral. Additionally, the Digital Media Manager works closely with the Vice President of Science, Public Engagement with Science, and The Kavli Prize and their teams on programmatic goals and activities.

Responsibilities

Digital Communications and Engagement

  • Lead development of digital engagement strategies for The Kavli Foundation, including and its programs and initiatives (partnering with program teams), and The Kavli Prize (partnering with the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters).
  • Manage the website and social media channels for The Kavli Foundation and The Kavli Prize, working closely with Norwegian partners on the prize specifically.
  • Help guide website improvements and manage website ongoing, including management of domain name registries and web hosting services, and serve as the primary point of contact for incorporating content and collateral from other departments and partners.
  • Create original content for the foundation and The Kavli Prize website and social media channels, including news stories, social posts, GIFs and videos, etc.
  • Oversee a team of science writers contributing content to the foundation’s website in each field of science and serve as copy editor.
  • Produce a monthly newsletter and manage and maintain a list of subscribers.
  • Establish best practices for management of all digital communications, including setting and tracking metrics of success.

Creative Design and Art Direction

  • Manage the visual identity of the foundation (and co-manage that of The Kavli Prize), ensuring consistency in brand logos and colors across digital and print uses within the foundation and its international network.
  • Oversee production of compelling graphics, interactives and videos for social media, websites, and print and digital advertising to ensure high quality and consistency with brand (when applicable).
  • Support The Kavli Foundation and The Kavli Prize meetings and special events with design of collateral including websites, printed programs, branded products and signage.
  • Develop and maintain a brand style guide for the foundation.

Administrative/Operational

  • Manage digital media budget, including tracking of expenses and payment of invoices.
  • Help review contracts and agreements.
  • Track budgeted expenses and provide summary reports to the appropriate director and accounting for audit purposes.
  • Provide input and support for the audio/visual set up for the Kavli Conference Center and digital needs for the recording room.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Proven abilities in managing social media channels and successful execution of social media campaigns that engage various public audiences, particularly in complex topics and steeped in terminology.
  • Experience in managing and maintaining websites, including SEO and domain name registries (including advanced DNS settings) and web hosting protocols.
  • Keen graphic eye and experience in developing creative material and content, including videos
  • Comfort and experience in managing partners, including external writers.
  • Strong writing and proofreading skills.
  • Detail-oriented and well organized; solid time management.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Exceptional multitasking skills and in managing multiple projects independently and consistently.
  • Ease in a fast-paced environment and comfortable with change.
  • Proactive and collaborative nature.
  • Experience in managing budgets.
  • Quick to troubleshoot and solve problems.
  • Experience with various tools and technology, including (but not limited to) content management systems, HTML/CSS (e.g., Drupal, WordPress), Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator, Premier Pro) and Salesforce a plus.
  • Previous experience in similar role and with like responsibilities.

Education

  • BS or BA in Communications, Marketing or related field and degree or experiences in science desired.

Hybrid Work

  • 2-3 days in-office are required.
