Mazhar N. Ali

Prof. Dr. Mazhar Ali is Associate Professor in Quantum Nanoscience at TU Delft. He earned his PhD in Chemistry and Materials from Princeton University. Dr. Ali is widely recognized for his groundbreaking research on quantum materials and devices. He has made leading breakthroughs in topological insulators and semimetals, as well as the Josephson Diode Effect. His work has led to several awards, including the Alexander von Humboldt Sofia Kovalevskaya Award, the Falling Walls Prize and a Vidi grant. In addition, Mazhar has demonstrated his civic commitment by co-founding a Silicon Valley startup in response to the water crisis in Flint, Michigan. He has also led the development of an innovative, low-cost device for measuring water quality, which is now used in the US, Mexico and India.
